It was hard to believe that I all I had to do was pop a small white tablet in the morning and then I'd be almost completely itch-free for the next 24 hours.
In fact, I didn't believe it. Maybe it was just a coincidence. So I got online to figure out if there was some kind of medical explanation behind it. If it really was working to lessen the itch. Turns out this seasonal allergy product suppresses histamines.
And histamines are what cause the itch.
According to the American Academy of Allergy Asthma & Immunology:
"Itching is triggered by histamine, a chemical in the body associated with immune responses. It causes the itch and redness you see with insect bites, rashes and skin dryness or damage."(6)
So it was actually happening ... it WAS stopping my itch.
Now, I say ALMOST completely stopped because there was one exception … the itch returned about 10 minutes after I got out of the shower.
Turns out, dry skin is really, really bad for eczema and makes it a whole lot worse. The seasonal-allergy product alone isn't strong enough to stop this itch.
According to the National Eczema Association:
"It is important to prevent dry skin — one of the most common triggers — which can cause your eczema to get worse."(7)
In order to combat the dry skin, I started looking for a safe and natural moisturizer - one without water, alcohol and harsh chemical.
After a week or so of scouring the internet, I found one. It's a centuries-old, powerful, all-natural moisturizer that not only keeps eczema moist and itch-free ... but it also contains 2 natural compounds that HEAL the skin. It works double duty!
I ordered the moisturizer and within 2 days was applying it to my skin after showers.
The seasonal-allergy product and all-natural moisturizer were now working together to stop the itch and clear-up the rough inflamed skin.
The seasonal-allergy product was working on the inside, battling the histamines that were making me itch... and the natural moisturizer was working on the outside, fighting dry skin and other external irritants.
And like magic ...
